Fire Breaks Out At South Brunswick Hotel, Dozens Reportedly Evacuated

Firefighters managed to contain to one room a fire that broke out Thursday night at a hotel in the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick, the Kingston Volunteer Fire Department said.

Firefighters were called to Sonesta Suites, 4225 Rt. 1, shortly after 10 p.m. Arriving firefighters immediately spotted flames in the room, the department said. 

The fire was quickly extinguished and guests -- which numbered about 40, according to a CBS 2 News report -- were safely evacuated. Crews from Kendall Park and Monmouth Junction assisted, along with South Brunswick police, the department said. 

The department thanked the other participating agencies for their quick response.

Information on the cause of the fire or the status of the investigation was not immediately available.
